I graduated the training class at work!

They were nice enough to give us the weekend off. I work 4-9:30 Tuesday through Thursday, I’m off Friday, and then I work 7:30-4 on Saturday.

Also I have a date this Saturday (tomorrow) good stuff. :)

Wow. This actually just happened.

Okay, anon, here you go. This picture right here? Yeah, that’s my body. I kinda have a pooch. I’m bloated from eating, and I am indeed 30lbs heavier than I was two years ago.

Am I fat? Well, I have fat. I’m actually about 19% body fat believe it or not (athletic build, by the way). Am I unhealthy? Absolutely not. I eat for survival, I eat for nutrition, and I eat for pleasure. That makes me a shitload healthier than I ever thought I would be.

SO WHAT if I have trouble losing weight. SO WHAT if my body has fat, and my body is not the “ideal female body” because I don’t have a flat stomach or a six pack. It’s my body and I fucking love it.

I’m sorry that you are so sick, that you need to tell a girl to go return to her eating disorder just because YOU don’t like the way SHE looks. I’m sorry that you see me as fat an unhealthy, and I really hope you find a therapist that will be able to help you with your own insecurities so that you don’t take them out on everyone else.

I hope you find help, and I hope one day you realize how disgusting your words are.

Oh, and by the way, I could kick your ass.

The reality is that fat people are often supported in hating their bodies, in starving themselves, in engaging in unsafe exercise, and in seeking out weight loss by any means necessary. A thin person who does these things is considered mentally ill. A fat person who does these things is redeemed by them. This is why our culture has no concept of a fat person who also has an eating disorder. If you’re fat, it’s not an eating disorder — it’s a lifestyle change.

I just want to nail this to every stable surface I can find. I cannot count the amount of times that I’ve seen fat folks being encouraged, cajoled, and even forced into behaviors that would be recognized as disordered eating/exercising patterns in thin folks. 

Pretty much everything that’s done on shows like The Biggest Loser would be called out as pro-ana/pro-orthorexia in a thin person. Exercising past the point that it hurts, to the point where you’re throwing up, even injuring yourself? Berating yourself because you didn’t lose ENOUGH weight this week? Constantly talking about how fat is weakness and thinness will make everything better, about how you can’t stand to be your current weight anymore? Emphasis on weight as a sign of how much control, strength, and worth you have? Viewing food as bad, as a temptation to sin? Constant sharing and talking about tips on how to minimize food intake, how to lose weight? 

That sounds exactly like every pro-ana/pro-mia blog I’ve ever seen. It’s also what fat people are told we need to be doing to ourselves until we’re thin.

So this guy I went to high school with started talking to me on facebook a couple days ago.

Now he wants to take me dancing when I go home for Christmas.

I swear, lately it’s like someone sent out a mass email to a bunch of single guys to tell them specifically about me. Not that I don’t like the attention (when it’s respectful), but it’s weird for me to plan dates with this many guys.
